the elemental power of the holy spirit
As God draws near to us, He reveals the fundamental nature of who He is and what He is going to do
in our lives, by comparing Himself (His Holy Spirit) to several of the most basic and elemental powers
in our world:
First, lets look at four (4) things that the Holy Spirit of God is NOT:
The Holy Spirit is NOT an "_after thought_"
24 _God is Spirit__, and his worshipers _must worship in spirit_ and in truth." John 4:24
The Holy Spirit is NOT a "_value-added service_"
28 I will pour out my Spirit _on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old
men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. 29 Even on my servants, both
men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days... Joel 2:28-29
Some people feel God added the Holy Ghost as just some added bonus. The Holy Spirit is a base, it
all starts with the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is NOT a "_fringe benefit_"
3 Therefore I tell you that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, "Jesus be
cursed," and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord, except by the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:3
It's the most fundamental element of our Christian walk. It is the ultimate and most basic blessing of
God. He is going to dwell in you.
The Holy Spirit is NOT a "_luxury option_"
8 But _you will receive power_ when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my
witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Acts 1:8
We've minimized the need to have the Holy Spirit working in out lives all the time.
THE HOLY SPIRIT COMES WITH THE "BASIC" MODEL!
Four (4) Elemental Powers of the Holy Spirit:
• The Holy Spirit is the _Wind of God_
5 Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of
water and the Spirit. 6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. 7 You should not be
surprised at my saying, 'You must be born again.' 8 The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its
sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born in the
Spirit. John 3:5-8
When God made man he BREATHED the BREATH of God into him. The Holy Spirit will speak for us
when we can't find the words.
• The Holy Spirit is the _Water of God___
37 On the last and greatest day of the Feast, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, "If anyone is
thirsty, _let him come to me and drink_. 38 Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said,
_streams of living water_ will flow from within him." John 7:36-37
6 He shall come down _like rain_ upon the mown grass: _as showers_that water the earth. Psalm 72:6
Without rain there wouldn't be new life. Without water, our thirst would not be satisfied. He wants us
to overflow. To drink not just enough but continually be filled to overflowing.
• The Holy Spirit is the _Fire of God_
3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues _like as of fire_, and
it sat upon _each of them_.
4 And they were all filled with _the Holy Ghost, and began to speak
with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance... Acts 2:3-4
The fire of God will purge and burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.
• The Holy Spirit is the _Light of God_
9 However, as it is written: "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has
prepared for those who love him"-10 but God has revealed it to us _by His spirit_. _The Spirit
searcheth_all things, even the deep things of God... 1 Corinthians 2:9-10
The light of God opens ourselves to ourselves. How often do we feel we don't even know who we are?
The spirit searches all things. Darkness can never overtake light. As long as there is a little bit of light
in us, darkness will not overtake us. It's like a match in a dark cave.
BE YE FILLED!!!!
"BY MY SPIRIT/ SAYS THE LORD ALMIGHTY..." (Zechariah 4:6)

into all truth_.
He will not speak on his own; he
will speak only what he hears,
and he will _tell you what is yet
