"Seeds" - Larry Hall 8-12-07

     Ice Breaker: Sword Drill
We looked up Acts 7:5. Matthew 13:4, Luke 1:55,
     Hebrews 11:11, Galatians 3:16, Matthew 13:20,
2 Corinthians 9:10 ("Kyle's Stickin' it to the man" -Kyle),
     Romans 1:3, Mark 4:31, Hebrews 2:16, John 8:33
     Romans 4:18, Luke 13:19
Common denominator between the verses: they're all about seeds

-How are natural seeds spread? Animals, wind, water
(Ryan and Randall are talking during Larry's discussion)
-Seeds need something to spread them.
-If seeds aren't planted right, they won't grow. They need to have good accepting soil.
(We like Larry's t-shirt)
-
James 1:21-22 21 "Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly
accept the word planted in you, which can save you.  22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so
deceive yourselves. Do what it says."

-Hear the word. Live the word. Don't hear the word and then forget it. Look into it intently. Continue to
dig into it, hide it in your heart, and live it out. And you will be blessed and bear fruit. God's word is
like a seed.
-The seed in us needs to be spread to others. If you let the word grow in you, it will spread to others.

-Jesus used natural things to explain spiritual things in the form of parables. But some still didn't
understand. They didn't try to understand and weren't good soil.
-We must ask God to help us really understand the full meaning of His parables and really hear Him
and understand Him whenever He speaks to us. If you want it and seek it, you will find and
understand it. God will give it to you.

1. Some fell on the road and the birds ate them. (In one ear, out the other. You never gave the seeds
a second thought, but rejected them.
2. Some seeds fell on rocks. They grew in a little bit of dirt, but the sun
scorched them 'cause there wasn't enough soil. (Their heart was shallow
and the seeds died.)
3. Some seeds fell among thorns. The weeds choked the seeds. (The
person got distracted and the worldly thing choked the seeds planed in
their hearts.)
4. Some seeds fell on good ground. (The heart accepted the seed, it grew, thrived and bore good
fruit.)

-Don't be lackadaisical when it comes to God. Give Him your all and do it for Him and for yourself and
not anyone else. You can hear and not hear, see and not see, and the sad thing is, it's your choice.
You have the opportunity to see and hear, so DO IT.

James 4:2 "Ye have not, because  ye ask not." If you don't ask for understanding , you're not gonna
get it.
-Now we have to sow the seed ourselves. Not every one's heart is ready. But you just have to keep
sowing. Also, make sure you have a strong relationship with God before you get into a strong
relationship with another person. Or else they'll unintentionally choke Him out. PUT GOD FIRST!!
-Don't let the devil choke the seeds planted in you. And only accept good seeds like God's word.
-Hear this, if any of us make the wrong decisions, may our only option be to cry out to God. But better
yet, let's just follow God and put Him first.
-When it comes to sowing seeds, it depends on more the soil than the sower. But f you sow the seed,
God will provide the increase.
-Accept the word and plant it in others. Want God more than anything else and live your life for Him.
Amen

(Caleb Hall "Daddy, church is over.") Final Word: Pray 5 minutes and read the Bible 5 minutes when
you wake up. Do the 10. Let that be your commitment between you in God. (closed in prayer)

Matthew 13:1-9
"1That same day Jesus went
out of the house and sat by
the lake. 2Such large crowds
gathered around him that he
got into a boat and sat in it,
while all the people stood on
the shore. 3Then he told
them many things in
parables, saying: "A farmer
went out to sow his seed. 4As
he was scattering the seed,
some fell along the path, and
the birds came and ate it up.
5Some fell on rocky places,
where it did not have much
soil. It sprang up quickly,
because the soil was shallow.
6But when the sun came up,
the plants were scorched,
and they withered because
they had no root. 7Other
seed fell among thorns,
which grew up and choked
the plants. 8Still other seed
fell on good soil, where it
produced a crop—a hundred,
sixty or thirty times what was
sown. 9He who has ears, let
him hear."
